About this project
Port Tanger Med, situated on the Strait of Gibraltar approximately 40km east of Tangier, is the largest port on the Mediterranean and in Africa by container capacity. Opened in July 2007 with an initial capacity of 3.5 million containers, by 2019 it handled over 9 million containers annually, ranking 18th in the world. Castle Electrodes supplied reference electrodes for the cathodic protection monitoring system protecting the port's marine structures.
